It’s best not to handle or touch the babies for the first 10 days, as you will leave your scent on them, and depending on the mother, it can upset her and cause her to ignore or kill them. At about 3 weeks of age, they are fully weaned from their mother and independent!

Overall the average dwarf hamster life span ranges from one and a half years to three years, in capitivity and depending on the kind of dwarf hamster.

The Campbell and the Siberian dwarf hamsters have a life span of about one and a half to two years. The Robos life span is about three to three and a half years. The Chinese dwarf life span is about two to three years.
